As slowly but surely we see all of the fossil fuels continue to dry up there is no doubt that energy such as solar will come more to the fore in the future. However, with so many massive companies around the world, especially in the US, it is unlikely we will see a significant move until the energy companies of today have repositioned themselves for the future.

For me there is no doubt that solar power is under used around the world but I believe it is the larger energy companies which are holding back on solar until they can guarantee a large slice of the pie for themselves.

Government seem unwilling to take any real risk with small solar energy companies although there are a number of token gestures for the press.
