This is great news, solar power is a great addition to the already large amount of power generated here from wind energy.

Living in Spain makes me feel very lucky, and the large amount of power that we can generate this way makes me feel good about the country.

Come on guys, more wind and solar power please

@ Andrew:

Good questions Andrew. We followed up with Torresol's PR and have the following new information for you.

The three Spanish solar power projects will total 117MW of power (one 17 MW plant and two 50 MW plants).

The time scale for each project is around 24-30 months. The first project is schedule to break ground in April 2008, the second is September 2008 and the third is slated to Q1 2009, Torresol tells us.

Why isn't the amount of power being generated by this particular plant? How many kilowatts or megawatts are being generated by this one plant?

Green energy is definitely the best solution in most cases. Technology like solar energy, wind power, fuel cells, zaps electric vehicles, EV hybrids, etc have come so far recently. Green energy even costs way less than oil and gas in many cases.
