I'm interested in a battery that could be plugged in that could be connected and disconnected to the main battery of the Prius. That way, it could be removed when I have need to pack the car and when I need the space. For most of commuting, it would sit in the back connected. Can you make it removable in a safe way?

How much electricity does it take to charge the nickel zinc battery fully after it has run down?

What is the cost?

500 cycles at 100% DoD. Typical Prius NiMH only do a 30-50% DoD. 500 cycles at 100% DoD would equate to at least 3 times as much at 50% DoD and at 30% DoD you are looking at thousands. Look at how it wil be used. Toyota really worked the powermanagment to get long life out of the NiMH.
