Minor correction. . . The Founders Series is supposed to run about 25 cars, or so we've long been told. I'm sure the seven cars referred to were those of the founders series which have thus far been produced.

Last I heard (quite recently) Tesla were starting cars on the production line at a rate of four per week. They could go faster, but they are deliberately keeping it slow until the up-rated powertrain is available. All the ones produced with the interim powertrain will have to be upgraded later, at considerable expense.

The DeLorean didn't fail because it was a shitty sports car, it failed because, they over-manufactured too many cars... 8,000+ $35,000 sports cars in the 1981-1982 U.S. recession. Imagine if Ferrari produced 8,000 cars between now and next time next year, all aimed at the American market in this economy? You think Ferrari would stay in business as well? And the British Gov't who was co-financing DeLorean Motor Company refused to spend any more on them.

True, the V6 in DeLorean isn't top of the line, but had the company stayed in business, there next engine was a Twin Turbo that went 0-60 in less than 5 seconds, plus they had a four door sedan in development, and bus, any many other vehicles on the drawing board. If DMC has 2 more years, they would have easily been a major player in the auto industry today.

I'd like to point out to all you Tesla/enviro freaks out there, that the DeLorean was and still is one of the most eco-friendly, and safest cars ever built.
