&lt;p&gt;If you look carefully at that site I think you will find that it was not an actual interview with Chu, but rather they are trying to put words into his mouth by suggesting what they would like him to say if he was asked those questions.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I don&#039;t know much about Chu, but I think the Heritage Foundation has a different agenda than he does.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Vilsack is the &#039;King of Corn&#039;. I foresee a heavy push for corn based fuels. While cellulosic processes are coming closer to being carbon-neutral, corn based fuels pose a variety of problems. Vislack&#039;s pick may influence Chu&#039;s decisions in the future of clean, sustainable fuels and energies.&lt;/p&gt;
